In honor of my friend, Kevin, who recently shared his first poem with me. This is mine:
Ode to a Mosquito
by Jenny Abbas, age 10
In the land of ten thousand lakes
People suffer from bug bite aches
The reason is, of course, the mosquito
who flies through the air like a torpedo
lands on some innocent skin
and sticks his little pain-causing needle in
And that is why
in the land of ten thousand lakes
people suffer from bed bug aches
